Past Event: Farmington Art and Artists Exhibition 🗓

Event Date : 2018 Jun Sat

The Farmington Historical Society has mounted an exhibit at the Barney Library’s Hoppin Gallery of paintings and works on paper by artists who worked in Farmington and by a number who lived here. There are more than sixty five works in the exhibit, on loan by six museums and several private owners. Museum sources include the Wadsworth Atheneum and the New Britain Museum of American Art.

There are also photographs, ephemera and printed materials of historical interest; doors decorated by notable artists, a locally made clock and cello, and a grave marker.

The exhibit will be open this Saturday the 9th, and on Monday through Wednesday, June 11th through 13th, during the Barney Library’s normal hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is part of the Historical Society’s effort to raise funds for restoration of the recently dismantled 18th century Phinehas Lewis house, constructed by renowned builder Judah Woodruff. There is no admission charge, but contributions are welcome in any amount.
